The Center for Cognitive and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (CCDBT) on Long Island, NY and in New York City is one of the longest standing, fully adherent Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) programs in the country. CCDBT has been providing empirically validated, compassionate therapy services to adolescents, families, and adults since 1999. The mission of CCDBT is to help people of all ages develop the skills needed to meet the challenges in their lives.

CCDBT is committed to the treatment and wellness of the individual as a whole, within the specific context of that individual’s life. Our overarching goal is to help people build the lives that they want to live. We think of this as a two-step process. First, we work collaboratively to decrease any specific symptoms, whether the symptoms be related to a mood disorder, an anxiety disorder, a personality disorder, a past trauma or a disruption in one’s work or home life. Next, we help our clients examine their values, identifying strengths on which to build, and developing mastery in areas previously thought of as weaknesses.

CCDBT is proud to employ clinicians who are experts in DBT, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Family Therapy, Trauma Therapy and Mindfulness Based Therapies. This expertise provides our clinicians with a tremendously robust “toolkit” of therapeutic interventions which have been scientifically proven to help achieve long-lasting behavior change. These interventions are tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual client.

Our approach is grounded both in the latest cutting-edge scientific research regarding effective symptom reduction AND in the art of psychotherapy which emphasizes the relationship between client and therapist. Our vast experience has demonstrated that merely following a scientific protocol is not enough to help clients succeed in reaching their goals. The role of a warm, insightful, and radically genuine therapist is pivotal in the development of client growth and healing.

What sets CCDBT apart from other DBT or CBT programs is our Clinical Consultation Team. Our founders have been practicing together for over 20 years. Every client who is treated at CCDBT is treated by the entire team. The team’s job is to support the therapist by providing additional insight, alternative viewpoints, and additional resources and trainings. This support helps to keep every individual moving forward towards personalized goals.
